Soft Power, Indonesian Diaspora and Digital World: A case study of IndoFest

Abstract :

This presentation examines the intersections between soft power, Indonesia diaspora and digital world. It provides reflections on the various of models of soft power in East Asia and in Indonesia as a way of re(understanding) the role played by Indonesia diaspora in projecting domestic agenda into regional and global audience. In this presentation I will critically discuss the origins of the IndoFest with giving attention to the strengths and weaknesses of using both grassroots initiatives and social media in promoting Indonesian education, cultural and culinary diplomacies in South Australia and beyond.
